Portotango
Manuel Vidal e Oscar Flecha criaram o ensemble Portotango em finais
de 2000 e estreou-se em Março de 2001 em Torre de Moncorvo, terra
dos antepassados do poeta Jorge Luís Borges, com o espectáculo “100
anos de tango”, promovido pelo Clube Tango do Porto.
Desde então tem actuado regularmente em todo o país. São de
sublinhar os concertos no Teatro Sá da Bandeira e no Coliseu do Porto
(onde encerraram o I Festival de Tango do Porto), em Coimbra Capital
da Cultura, no Festival Internacional de Guitarra de Santo Tirso e na
Casa da Música - Porto.
O ensemble celebra o som e poesia de Buenos Aires interpretando
alguns dos mais representativos tangos, da Guardia vieja até as novas
expressões do pulsar porteño.
Os seus trabalhos discográficos são Corazón al Sur e Portotango Sin esquinas,
onde apresentam música de Carlos Gardel, Anibal Troilo, Mariano Mores e
Astor Piazzolla entre outros.

About Tango ensemble (Sin esquinas Tour)
“Sin Esquinas” is the fruit of a period of intense study by Portotango Ensemble touching on all areas of tango music. It is at once a concept, a philosophy and a recording reflecting the group’s varied interests and passions which call on music from the Guarda Vieja through the Golden Epoch and on into and beyond the modern face of today’s tango.
“Sin Esquinas” naturally features tango dance and poetry and the musicians are often joined by Alexandra and Fernando Jorge, Gladys & Oscar among other dancers. The poetical component features all the great tango writers from Borges to Horacio Ferrer and the music is often given impetus under the creation of original tangos by Portotango.
Portotango Ensemble are always seeking to push the boundaries of tango music and the myriad forms in which tango may be presented; “Sin Esquinas” is the tangible essence of all things Tanguero; it only remains for the percipient tango lover to understand what Portotango have to offer through experiencing “Sin Esquinas.”
